Psalm 50:15 (NLT) Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.
In Hebrew, the original language of the Old Testament, the word translated as call in English means to call out to or to cry unto. In Greek, the original language of the New Testament, the word means to invoke a person, to call a person by name. So, by definition, calling on the Lord is audible. It literally means to say His name aloud.
Romans 10:9 (AMPC) Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
No matter the pain and suffering you go through right now, God promised to deliver you from your struggle. He may not deliver from the trial, but he will deliver you through the trial.
Hebrews 13:5b (NLT) . . . “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
1 Peter 4:12-13 (NLT) Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
The fact that the Lord says, ‘Call upon me in the day of trouble,’ reveals glorious things about his character. It shows that:
- God cares about us, 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NLT) So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
- God wants to help us, Hebrews 13:6 (NLT) So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”
- we can stand on the promises of God, Romans 4:20-21 (NLT) Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.
- the glory belongs to God, Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Don’t worry or fear, find your strength in God. It can be easy to give in to worry, fear and despair, but with Him, we can find strength and look forward to wonderful things. He gives us hope!
Have a great day
