Dwight L. Moody said: “A little faith will bring your soul to heaven, but a lot of faith will bring heaven to your soul.”
Faith begins where the will of God is known. It’s just that simple and it’s just that hard. Now go out and find it. That’s where it starts – you are going out to find the will of God on the subject. That’s where the journey begins. Heartfelt searching and seeking are central to the process.
1 John 5:14-15 (NCV) And this is the boldness we have in God’s presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, he hears us. If we know he hears us every time we ask him, we know we have what we ask from him.
Faith cannot be exercised where there is uncertainty concerning God’s will in the matter. The lost cannot call upon Jesus to save them if they don’t know that it is God’s will to be saved. God’s will is revealed through His written word, the Bible, and God does nothing apart from His word.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (NLT) May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
These verses say that all things that pertain to life and godliness are given unto us through the knowledge of God. Certainly, faith must be one of those things because without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Romans 10:17 (NLT) So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
Faith is based on a promise, while knowledge is based on revelation, spiritual information. We all have faith according to the Scriptures. But functioning according to the revelation knowledge, which God has made available to you through His Word, is what puts you over / gives you real advantage in life.
You become effective in life as a Christian when you function according to revelation knowledge.
Matthew 22:29 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.”
“Faith is standing against what you see to get what you know from God.” -Rex Rouis (hopefaithprayer.com)
“If you wish to know God, you must know his Word. If you wish to perceive His power, you must see how He works by his Word. If you wish to know His purpose before it comes to pass, you can only discover it by His Word.” -CH Spurgeon
I conclude with a quote from Gloria Copeland – “You can’t stand effectively on ‘blind’ faith. You must have a ‘knowing’ faith, and that comes from believing wholeheartedly what the Word promises. You know God has spoken it and declared it to be so, and you know you can depend on that.” God’s Keys to Life
