10 September 2023 – Enlarge you space

Isaiah 54:3(MSG) God says so! “Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family.”

In Biblical times, when a tent dweller’s family was growing and they needed to make room for more people, they didn’t change their tents but instead, they expanded their tents. They expanded the tents by simply adding another section to the old tent.

We should not be limited to what or who we already have. We need to work hard to make room for more people. God doesn’t enlarge those who are pretty much content with what they have. Enlargement requires work. Indeed, enlargement does not come to the sluggish. This truth is illustrated by the amount of hard work that the women in Biblical times had to do in order to make tents. Tents were made from goat hair or dark sheep wool, woven in rectangular strips on large looms. Women wove the fabric for the tents, stitched them together, and kept them in good repair. In effect, they were the crafters who produced the housing.

The fruits and promises are given to those who are diligent. The promises are received through faith and patience. Both faith and patience must be present. We cannot just have faith alone. We also need to wait actively. We are called to be hardworking people.

Hebrews 6:11–12(NKJV) And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

1 Chronicles 4:10…”Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my territory!….” –

1 Chronicles 4:9-10(NTL) There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.

Leviticus 26:9-11(NLT) I will look favorably upon you, making you fertile and multiplying your people. And I will fulfill my covenant with you. You will have such a surplus of crops that you will need to clear out the old grain to make room for the new harvest! I will live among you, and I will not despise you.

Exodus 34:24(NLT) I will drive out the other nations ahead of you and expand your territory, so no one will covet and conquer your land while you appear before the LORD your God . . .

You have to desire expansion. Every change begins with a burning desire. This place had become too small for us. No matter what you have, you can have more and it begins with a strong desire. A weak desire does not inspire you to pay the necessary price for the desired change. Until you are fed up with where you are, you will not do whatever it takes to achieve something bigger and better.

Most people’s desires never become reality because they do not decide to act upon it. Until your desire becomes a decision, it will never take off. Choice not chance, determines human destiny. Do something about it. Schedule action steps towards achieving your goals.
