Romans 8:14(NLT) For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
John 14:15-18(CSB) “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him, because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.
John 14:26(CSB) But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
1 John 2:27(NIV) As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit–just as it has taught you, remain in him.
When we choose to follow the Holy Spirit, we are not walking by the flesh.
Galatians 5:16-18(NLT) So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
When we live by the Spirit of God, aware of His presence, the Holy Spirit then leads and guides and enables us to walk in the paths where He leads, if we allow Him. This is achieved by being aware of His presence and guidance daily. We put our trust in Him to lead us, through prayer, reading the Bible and just being still in His presence. It is amazing that the moment we become aware of His presence in our lives, He will become our trusted companion. The more our relationship with the Holy Spirit develops, the more we will identify the signs of His guidance in our lives. To be led by the Spirit of God, we need to be willing and allow Him to guide us. The Holy Spirit will never force himself on us. It is our openness, willingness, and awareness to be led by the Spirit that will empower us to be led by the Holy Spirit. It is a simple prayer asking Him to lead and guide us daily. He will always be there for us, we just need to invite Him be part of our daily lives, decisions and walk.
Galatians 5:25(NKJV) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
To ‘walk in the Spirit’ means to do what you do each day as the Spirit leads; live your life in all its details by the enabling power of the Spirit.
“Walking by the Spirit is what we do when the desires produced by the Spirit are stronger than the desires produced by the flesh. This means that “walking by the Spirit” is not something we do in order to get the Spirit’s help, but rather, just as the phrase implies, it is something we do by the enablement of the Spirit.” – John Piper
I conclude with: “Just as the right relationship with Christ generates a Christian, so the proper relationship with the Holy Spirit breeds a spiritual man.” – Watchman Nee
