May all nations receive blessings through him
This Psalm describes how the king will reign over the nations, how the Gentiles will find blessings in him, and how all nations will in turn bless him. David prays that the king will have a long life and asks his people to join him in this prayer. He also requests that the Gentiles honour him with gold from Sheba (the finest gold), and with an abundance of crops.
Psalm 72:15-17(NLT) Long live the king! May the gold of Sheba be given to him. May the people always pray for him and bless him all day long. May there be abundant grain throughout the land, flourishing even on the hilltops. May the fruit trees flourish like the trees of Lebanon, and may the people thrive like grass in a field. May the king’s name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and bring him praise.
Upon reading these verses, I immediately perceived the prophetic voice as pointing to Jesus. How many names will be forgotten? Not the name of Jesus. His name will endure forever, thanks to His deeds. Through this Name, all nations will be blessed and will bring Him praise.
Ephesians 1:3(NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
Reflecting on these truths, it’s evident that you are indeed blessed beyond measure. You are blessed with a rich inheritance that will outlast anything on this earth. You are beloved and known by God. You are His child, redeemed with a purpose. Therefore, let us follow Paul’s exhortation: to respond in praise, blessing the One who has endowed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
