11 June 2022 – Never give up

Proverbs 24:10 (AMP) “If you are slack (careless) in the day of distress, Your strength is limited.”

Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV) “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.”

Great people do not quit. They are overcomers. They know difficulties will come, so they prepare for them, and they fight through them. No-one likes adversity, which is affliction, difficulty, hardship, or danger. We all choose to avoid it. It is said, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

Faith can defeat adversity, for it sees through and past temporary setbacks to the bright future ahead.

Morgan Freeman once said: “I always tell my kids if you lay down, people will step over you. But if you keep scrambling, if you keep going, someone will always, always give you a hand. Always. But you gotta keep dancing, you gotta keep your feet moving.”

Psalm 27:13 (KJV) “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 6:6 (ISV) “I am weary from my groaning. Every night my couch is drenched with tears, my bed is soaked through. 7 My eyesight has faded because of grief, it has dimmed because of all my enemies. 9 The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord receives my prayer.”

What did the psalmist do about this weariness? He wrote that “The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord receives my prayer”. He had confidence that God would hear him in his weariness and moaning.

The psalmist writes in Psalm 34:18 (MSG) “If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.”

Never let us grow weary of doing good because Galatians 6:9 (AMP) says “Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.”

I conclude with “Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stow
