Good day
Storms are a part of life. Many of us have, will or are currently in a storm of life. Being in a storm does not always mean that you are out of the will of God. Satan loves to use storms to bring us at a place where we start doubting whether we are in the will of God. He brings doubt in our lives, and we begin to lose faith, doubting ourselves and God. The Bible teaches us that storms are often encountered in obedience to God. The message that emerges from the book of Job is that Satan, not God, was the author of Job’s suffering. His troubles didn’t come because he was bad, but because he was good. And they did not come because he lacked faith. They came rather to destroy his faith. His suffering was sent by Satan to drive him to despair and to get him to turn from God. This is true of much of our storms in life. God uses storms for his good purpose in our lives.
Storms are often encountered in obedience to God. In Matthew 14: 22 Jesus made his disciples to get into the boat (ESV) “Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat.”
The Lord instructed Abram to leave his country, and at that time a severe famine struck the land.
Genesis 12:1 (NLT) The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” 10 At that time a severe famine struck the land of Canaan.
God tested Abraham by instructing him to offer his son. This was surely one of the biggest storms that Abraham had experienced in his life. There are many examples in the Bible where, being in the will of God we will experience storms in our lives.
Psalm 34:19 ESV “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”
If you are in a storm, it does not necessary mean that you have made a mistake. That you made a wrong decision. Sometimes God leads us into storms by divine appointment.
Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
I conclude with, a storm is not a tombstone; it is a steppingstone.
