What is Revival? Revival is the restoration of God’s presence in His people. The Hebrew word for revival means to bring back to life, to restore to consciousness, or to restore to a previous condition.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
God says IF you, then I will. IF you will do certain things, THEN He will do certain things.
The word IF is an interesting little word. It is one of the most important words in the Bible because it speaks directly to our responsibility to God. In Greek, this word IF means in case that or provided that. If is made up of two words, meaning conditionality and a wish. Thus, putting together the Greek words translated as IF it literally means a wish with a condition.
IF implies it is all about our liberty to choose. This is the Lord’s great gift to us – the power and freedom to choose.
Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV) This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
Job 22:28 (NLV) You will decide something, and it will be done for you. Light will shine on your path.
The word if in the Bible give us the ability to choose. If we choose then God will. The following scripture shows us what it the outcome is if we choose God’s will in our lives.
IF you hear – Hebrews 4:7 (NKJV) “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”
IF you listen – Deuteronomy 28:13 (NLT) If you listen to these commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.
IF you obey – Isaiah 1:19 (AMP) If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the best of the land;
IF you hear His voice – Revelation 3:20 (AMP) Behold, I stand at the door [of the church] and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me.
IF you search for God – Deuteronomy 4:29 (NLT) But from there you will search again for the LORD your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
IF you have faith – Matthew 21:21(NASB95) And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.
IF you believe – Mark 9:23(NASB95) And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”
IF you abide in Christ – John 15:7(NLT) But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
Proverbs 2:1-5(ESV) My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
The Bible principle is this – IF man does THEN God will.
