Matthew 6:8 (NIV)” Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
Jesus said that God already knows what we need before we even ask. It therefore means that there is no situation you are going through or that you will ever go through, that God does not know the solution. If he knows what I need, why do I have to ask Him?
Dr. Miles Munroe defined prayer as an earthly license for heavenly interference.” In other words, heaven’s resources and power are awaiting your prayer. The moment you pray, heaven now has a legal right to interfere on your behalf and bring its unlimited power to work in your situation.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT) “Never stop praying.” God commands us to pray continually. That means to pray a lot! Jesus promised: ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened.
John Calvin wrote in this regard: “Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things.”
Often, we let the anxieties of life pile up on us before we take them to God in prayer.
Psalm 34:15 (NIV) “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;”
Scripture tells us, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight” (Hebrews 4:13, NIV). There isn’t a day or a tear that God doesn’t know about. He sees whatever we’re going though, and He knows.
1 Peter 5:7, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (NLT)
“Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.” – Corrie Ten Boom
I would like to conclude with a quote from Billy Graham; “In the morning, prayer is the key that opens to us the treasures of God’s mercies and blessings; in the evening, it is the key that shuts us up under His protection and safeguard.”
Keep on praying
