Rely on the promises of God in his Word
Hebrews 6:13-15,17,18 (NIV) When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised … Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.”
The nature of God’s word is based on the character of God. In other words, since God is faithful, his word is reliable.
There are distinct qualities of God’s word that guarantee that it cannot fail, thereby we can rely on it.
God’s word is perfect – Psalm 19:7-9 (MSG) The revelation of God is whole and pulls our lives together. The signposts of God are clear and point out the right road. The life-maps of God are right, showing the way to joy. The directions of God are plain and easy on the eyes. God’s reputation is twenty-four-carat gold, with a lifetime guarantee.”
God’s word is true – Proverbs 30:5 (LB) “Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to him for protection.”
God’s word is permanent* – Psalm 119:89 (LB) “Forever, O Lord, your Word stands firm in heaven.” Matthew 24:35 (ESV) “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”
God’s word is powerful – Hebrews 11:3(AMP) “By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.”
No matter how a situation looks like, we can stand on the promises of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 (AMP) “All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honourably with personal integrity and moral courage].
The words in the Bible have God’s supernatural power and life in them. The Words that are in the Bible are pure, solid, spiritual food that have the supernatural ability to feed your mind, soul, and spirit. Nothing else will feed your inner man like reading from the Bible.
Hebrews 4:12 (AMP) “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
