13 July 2022 – Storms must remind us of God’s promises

Storms must remind us of God’s promises. When we encounter a storm, we have a choice, are we going to focus on the storm or on the promises of God. The more we focus on the storm, the bigger the storm becomes, the more we focus on God and his promises the bigger our God becomes. When Peter saw the wind, he was afraid, and began to sink.

Matthew 14:29 (EVS) “He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

The moment Peter began to sink, he cried out “Lord save me”. During the storm He knew where his help was, it was from Jesus. “Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him”. When
Jesus instructed his disciples to get in the boat, he said that he will meet them on the other side. Sometimes we must be reminded that although will we go through the storms of life, that we have a promise, Jesus will be on the other side.

Matthew 14: ESV 22 “Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side”

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah said, Isaiah 62:6 (AMPC). “Put the Lord in remembrance of His promises, keep not silence”

God invites you—yes, commands you—to remind him of his promises. Find a promise that fits your problem and build your prayer around it! These prayers of faith touch the heart of God and miracles are set in motion!

Abraham knew what it was to stand on the promises of God in a time of crisis.

Hebrews 11:17-19 (NIV) 17 “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.”

Stand on the promises of God, remind yourself of the promises of God, even when the wind is against you.

Remember, storms remind us of God’s promises.
