“The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.” – Abraham Lincoln

Charles Kingsley wrote the following “Do today’s duty, fight today’s temptation and do not weaken and distract yourself by looking forward to the things we cannot see, and could not understand if you saw them.”

Psalm 68:19 (NKJV) “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation”

God’s benefits come on a day by day basis. The benefits include His kindness, His goodness, and His provision. He gave His children manna in the desert. He opened the sea in front of them so they could cross. The Lord knows of paths and ways of doing things that we have not even thought about. God loads us daily with benefits. We simply must trust Him each day.

Matthew 6:11 “Give us this day our daily bread.” God is a daily provider who provides for our needs today.

Matthew 6:34 (NIV) “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

The song “One Day at a Time” was originally recorded by Marilyn Sellars that is still relevant “One day at a time, sweet Jesus. Thats all I’m asking of You. Just give me the strength to do everyday. What I have to do. Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus. And tomorrow may never be mine. Lord, help me today. Show me the way. One day at a time”

Psalm 118:24 (NKJV) “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Which day? ‘This day, today!’ Not tomorrow; not yesterday, but: ‘This day, today.’ We should say this at the start of everyday: “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it”

The burdens of tomorrow added on to the burdens of today are too much for even a strong person. You were not designed to carry the burdens of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow. God gives you the grace for today.

Lamentations 3:22 (ESV) “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Just live today, one day at a time. Give today all that you have. Focus on today. You can plan for tomorrow; but don’t worry about it, because just living today to the fullest is the best preparation for tomorrow.
