So many people believe in God and yet, they feel powerless in this world. So, they pray to Him for power. That seems to make sense, right? But what if instead of praying for power, He wants us to pray with power.
When Jesus was exhausted or burdened or in need of spiritual refreshment, he would slip away to pray — plugging into the power that can only be found in God’s presence.
Luke 5:16, AMP “But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.”
Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us. You determine that through your prayer life because the only way to get in touch with the power of Heaven is through Jesus Christ. He is the source of all power.
You get the attention of God when you pray in the authority of Jesus’ name. John 14:14: “If you ask anything,” Jesus said, “in My name, I will do it.”
Ask in faith believing. Mark 11:23: “For assuredly, I say to you, ‘Whoever… does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.’”
Ask according to His will. 1 John 5:14 states, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” God’s will is consistent with His Word. You can know the will of God by reading the Word of God—they are exactly the same.
If you want your prayers answered, you must be specific in your request. Be clear about what you are asking for. Matthew 20:30–34 (NKJV) “And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 31 Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” 34 So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.”
Jesus stopped to speak with them and asked them what exactly they wanted, saying, “What do you want me to do for you?” As God, Jesus knew exactly what they wanted, but He asked them to be specific.
“Prayer turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings life. It brings God” – Samuel Chadwic
“Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power.” R.A. Torrey
