14 July 2022 – Even when we can’t see Jesus, He sees us

Matthew 14:23 (ESV) “And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.”

Jesus is on the mountain looking at his disciples, where after he left to maintain walking on the sea towards the boat. His focus was on the disciples all the time. Here are the disciples in the middle of the night at the fourth watch of the night. This was at the time when it was the darkest and the storm the roughest. Jesus can see the disciples, but they can’t see Him. In the middle of a storm, know that God can see you.

Proverbs 15:3 (ESV) “The eyes of the Lord are in every place.”

Psalm 33:18 (ESV) “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love”

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT) “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

1 Peter 3:12 “For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears attend to their prayer, But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Psalm 139 1-6 (MSG) “God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too— your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful—I can’t take it all in! 7-12 Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there! If I go underground, you’re there! If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute—you’re already there waiting! Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I’m immersed in the light!” It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.

God can see you in your circumstance. He can see you. There are times that you cannot see God, but He can see you.
