Commit your way to the Lord and He will do it
Psalm 37:4–5(NAS) “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it.
How do you commit yourself to the Lord?
To delight our self in The Lord is to surrender to His will – Psalm 40:8 (NKJV) I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.
To meditate on the Word of God – Psalm 1:1-2 (NKJV) “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.”
Have an Honest Heart – Proverbs 12:22 (NKJV) Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.
Obedience to God – 1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV) So Samuel said: Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.
Prayer – Proverbs 15:8b NKJV “the prayer of the upright is His delight”.
The Passion translations says in Psalm 37:4 (TPT) “Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and he will provide for you what you desire the most.”
The word delight means “to gain great pleasure, satisfaction, and happiness.” Taking delight in the Lord means that our hearts truly find peace and fulfilment in God.
Psalm 37:4–5(NAS) Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it.
Interestingly, where it says in this verse “commit your way,” the original Hebrew literally says, “roll your way on the Lord.”
Commit is a one-time act; trust is a continuing attitude. Once we have committed, we don’t go on committing. Instead, we take the attitude that it is already committed, and all we must do now is go on trusting. Commit is the act; trust is the attitude. The English translation, “God will do it.” However, in the Hebrew it says literally, “God is doing it.”
God is working out whatever we have committed to Him. Whatever decision, whatever course we need to take, God is working it out.
