Miracles are not limited to healing alone. A miracle is simply God’s intervention in the affairs of man. When God steps into a situation, a miracle is born, no matter the situation. Everything about Jesus, from birth to ascension, is a miracle. When you take away miracles from Christianity, it will become mere religion. A miracle is a supernatural intervention of God in a situation.
Psalm 72:18 (GW) Thank the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does miracles.
Jeremiah 32:27 (NLT) “I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
Psalm 77:14 (TLB) You are the God of miracles and wonders! You still demonstrate Your awesome power.
Acts 2:22 (NLT) “People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.
John 21:25 (NLT) Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.
Jesus’ miracles raised people from the dead, fed thousands, controlled nature, cast out evil spirits, and healed the infirm. Even Jesus’ birth was a miracle. More than 30 of Jesus’ miracles are recorded in the Bible. Here’s a categorical list of many of the miracles of Jesus.
Jesus fed thousands of people; Jesus cast out evil spirits; Jesus healed the blind, deaf, sick, injured, and infirm. Jesus turned water into wine; controlled the water and other elements of nature. He caught a surprisingly large number of fish and Jesus raised people from the dead.
Matthew 17:20 (NIV) He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV) “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Mark 16:17-20 (NLT) These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.
I conclude with “Catching the apple doesn’t overturn the law of gravity or the formulation of a new law. It’s merely an intervention of a person with freewill who overrides the natural causes operative in that particular circumstance. And that is, essentially, what God does when he causes a miracle to occur.” – William Lane Craig
