He is more than a household name
While I was reading The Message Translation of Psalm 76, verse 1 caught my attention: God is well-known in Judah; in Israel, he’s a household name. This led me to Psalm 8:1(MSG) GOD, brilliant Lord, yours is a household name.
The term household name signifies something or someone widely recognisable and well-known. Thus, the question arises: Is God a household name in your house, in your family, in your life? Not only should God be a household name, but He should be more than that; He should be the Name above all names.
Philippians 2:9-10(AMP) says: For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
Hebrews 1:3-4(NLT) states: The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.
Not only is Jesus a household name, but He is more than that; He is the Name above all names. In the name of Jesus is power, John 14:13(NLT) affirms: You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
It is by faith in this Name above all names, the name of Jesus Christ, that people are saved, set free from bondage, healed of sicknesses and diseases, and made whole. There is no other name under heaven more powerful or more significant.
Jesus is more than a household name; He is the Name above all names.
