According to the Oxford dictionary, the meaning of own, is to admit or acknowledge that something is the case. It also means admitting, allowing, conceding, granting, accepting, acceding, and acknowledging.
Ownership is a powerful thing. It makes people feel things like love, pride and responsibility. Ownership feeds devotion, and it often dictates action. When something is yours, it becomes immediately more important to you than something that is not yours.
We are still discussing making this year your best. We are already in May of this year. Maybe things have not gone the way you would have liked it to. A few days ago, we discussed the issue of the decision and decree. Well, once you have decided, decreed and framed it, you have to own it. It will be best if you make it your own.
The moment we own something, we take possession of it. We cherish it. We own it.
Many times, in life, things do not go the way we want. When troubles come, we can so quickly fall into unbelieve, and can so easily lose our vision. We fall into doubt and wonder where God is.
Psalm 73:11 (MSG) What’s going on here? Is God out to lunch?
Things will inevitably go wrong. It’s what you do when it happens, that matters. Do you point the finger and blame others? Or do you own the situation and circumstance by doing something about it? We all face difficulties.
Here are what you can do in these times that will help you make it through:
- Own the outcome, regardless of whether it directly contributed to creating it
- Look for ways to turn difficult circumstances into outstanding opportunities
- Seek God’s wisdom and trust His guidance
Proverbs 24:15-16 (MSG) Don’t interfere with good people’s lives; don’t try to get the best of them. No matter how many times you trip them up, God-loyal people don’t stay down long; Soon they’re up on their feet, while the wicked end up flat on their faces.
It’s your life, you get to decide what to do with it – Danielle Bernock
Something happens when you feel ownership. You no longer act like a spectator or consumer, because you’re an owner. Faith is at its best when it’s that way too. It’s best lived when it’s owned. – Bob Goff
Until you take ownership for your life, you will always be chasing happiness. —Sean Stephenson
I conclude with Galatians 6:5-6 (MSG) Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Be very sure now, you who have been trained to a self-sufficient maturity, that you enter into a generous common life with those who have trained you, sharing all the good things that you have and experience.
