16 September 2021 – “I am set apart for God’s purpose, to live forever”

1 Corinthians 6:11 (AMP) “But you were washed clean (purified by a complete atonement for sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and YOU WERE CONSECRATED (SET APART, HALLOWED), and you were justified [pronounced righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God.”

The words consecrated and hallowed mean set apart as holy to God. This is accomplished with the help, and by the power, of the Holy Spirit. The word sanctified means to set apart for God’s special use. We are created for God’s purpose. Your general purpose is to glorify God; your specific purpose is to have fellowship with God through the process of realising your God-given dream.

Proverbs 11:28 (MSG) “A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.”

“It’s not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfilment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.” – Rick Warren

Luke 9:24 (MSG) “Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self.”

We must build our life on eternal truths. Colossians 1:16 (MSG) “For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.”

Isaiah 44:2 (CEV) “I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born.”

God has planted eternity in the human heart. God’s purpose for us is to live forever with him. We are made to last forever.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT) “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart”

Our earthly body is just a temporary residence for our spirit. The Bible calls our earthly body a “tent,” but refers to our future body as a “house.” The Bible says

2 Corinthians 5:1 (GNB) “For we know that when this tent we live in — our body here on earth — is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last for ever.”

Our relationship to God on earth will determine our relationship with him in eternity. If we learn to love and trust Jesus, we spend the rest of eternity with God. On the other hand, if we reject his love, and salvation, we will spend eternity apart from God forever.

1 John 2:17 (NLT)”This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever:”

1 Peter 2:11 (MSG) “Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul.”

Your identity is in eternity, and your homeland is heaven.
