18 August 2023 – Prayer makes things happen

James 5:16(NASB) Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

Prayer is talking to God. A prayer is also an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Through prayer, we communicate with the very source of and purpose for our existence.

God wants us to talk to Him in prayer.

In Faith – James 1:5(NASB) But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Always pray – Luke 18:1(AMP) Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart.

Pray with thanksgiving – Philippians 4:6(AMP) Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

Pray within God’s will – Matthew 6:10(AMP) Your kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Prayer is powerful. Do you for one moment think that if God wants us to pray, He will not answer our prayers?

Psalm 17:6(AMP) I have called upon You, for You, O God, will answer me; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.

Psalm 34:17(AMP) When the righteous cry [for help], the LORD hears And rescues them from all their distress and troubles.

John 16:24(MSG) Ask in my name, according to my will, and he’ll most certainly give it to you. Your joy will be a river overflowing its banks!

1 John 5:13-15(MSG) My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion. And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening. And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours.
I conclude with: “Prayer moves everything behind everything that moves everything. And that means that it misses nothing.” – Craig D Lounsbrough
