18 June 2021 – Do you know that you were made by God for God? You are God’s work of art

Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

You are a work of art, God’s work. The Greek term here translated “workmanship” (poiema) is the word from which we get our English word “poem.” In a very real sense, God’s children are God’s poetry, the crown of His creative work! We are God’s work of art. His workmanship, His new creation. It is a work of God’s grace.

God has created you for good things and desires that you accomplish them through Him. God has a plan for our lives. Our gifts, prayers and passions are designed to take us forward. We are called to a life of purpose. We were saved and made a new creation for good works. We are not saved by good works; we are saved for good works. We do not do to receive; we do because we already have received. As Martin Lloyd-Jones says, “The opposite of trusting in your works is not doing nothing, it is doing everything but not trusting in any of it”

Ephesians 2:8 (AMP) “For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favour drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].”

We are saved by faith in Christ, not by faith in our works. We are called to fulfil our purpose and our destiny. Making an eternal impact is all about becoming and living out of who we are in Christ Jesus

I would like to conclude with 1 Peter 2:9 (MSG)” But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

You were “handmade” by God, gifted and skilled for His specific works.

Live today to its fullest.
