In your need call upon the Lord
Psalm 18:6(AMPC) In my distress [when seemingly closed in] I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His [very] ears.
Psalm 18:6(CEV) says: I was in terrible trouble when I called out to you, but from your temple you heard me and answered my prayer.
Psalm 18:6(VOICE) translation declares: In my time of need, I called to the Eternal; I begged my True God for help. He heard my voice echo up to His temple, and my cry came to His ears.
David understood what it was to have to call on the LORD and encourage himself. The Bible says that the families of the men who fought battles with David were kidnapped, and the camp was burned down. The men spoke of stoning David. David immediately strengthened himself in the LORD his God. 16
1 Samuel 30:6(AMP) Further, David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all of them were embittered, each man for his sons and daughters. But David felt strengthened and encouraged in the LORD his God.
In Jeremiah 33:2-3 God commands His people to call to Him, promising that He will answer. Jeremiah 33:2-3(AMP) Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it—the LORD is His name, ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’
We too must strengthen ourselves in the LORD our God when we go through difficult times. We must know that He is able and will help us. In time of need call upon the Lord.
2 Chronicles 16:9(TLB) For the eyes of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward him, so that he can show his great power in helping them.
