19 August 2021 – That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life

Psalm 27:4 (AMP) “One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.”

Like David there are those who honour God, that seek to dwell in the house of the Lord, in His presence.

Malachi 1:11 (MSG) “I am honoured all over the world. And there are people who know how to worship me all over the world, who honour me by bringing their best to me. They’re saying it everywhere: ‘God is greater, this God-of-the-Angel-Armies.

Some Christians avoid the house of God, or think of any excuse not to go to church. Being in the presence of God is not on their to-do list. This is what Malachi describes in Malachi 1:12-13 (MSG) “All except you. Instead of honouring me, you profane me. You profane me when you say, ‘Worship is not important, and what we bring to worship is of no account,’ and when you say, ‘I’m bored—this doesn’t do anything for me.’ You act so superior, sticking your noses in the air—act superior to me, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! And when you do offer something to me, it’s a hand-me-down, or broken, or useless. Do you think I’m going to accept it? This is God speaking to you!”

David’s heart’s desire is not just to visit but to dwell, to reside in God’s presence, to make his home there.

Psalm 84:1-2 (MSG) “What a beautiful home, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! I’ve always longed to live in a place like this, always dreamed of a room in your house, where I could sing for joy to God-alive!”

Psalm 65:4 “Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!”

Psalm 84:10-11 (MSG) “One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honoured as a guest in the palace of sin.”

Psalm 26:8 (NKJV) “Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells”

“Why do some persons ‘find’ God in a way that others do not? Why does God manifest His Presence to some and let multitudes of others struggle along in the half-light of imperfect Christian experience? Of course the will of God is the same for all. He has no favourites within His household. All He has ever done for any of His children He will do for all of His children. The difference lies not with God but with us.” ― A.W. Tozer,

Have a great day.
