19 June 2021 – We all are formed by God’s hand

Isaiah 64:8 (NLT) “And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.”

Clay is undesirable. No one wants clay but the potter. No one has a need for clay, but the potter. No one places a value on clay but the potter. No one has a desire for clay but the potter. Clay has no strength. It possesses no power. Clay cannot earn anything. In the relationship between the potter and the clay, the clay has absolutely no way of earning or working for anything that would produce merit with the potter. The potter has a love in his heart for clay, but not because the clay deserves it, but because the potter naturally loves the clay.

In the potter’s house there are many beautiful vessels that express and exhibit the honour and the handiwork of the potter. These vessels are finished vessels and require no more moulding at the hands of the potter. They are a display of the work of the potter, whose loving heart and hands has made them. The work of the potter becomes His work of art.

We are His Workmanship. As clay in the potter’s hand He is moulding and making us into a vessel that can bring honour and glory to Him.

Deuteronomy 32:3 (AMP) “For I proclaim the name [and presence] of the Lord; Ascribe greatness and honour to our God! 4 “The Rock! His work is perfect”

Genesis 2:7 (NIV) “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

Moulded out of clay, we are pottery. God shaped Adam from the clay of the earth and breathed life into him. Paul refers to our bodies as “jars of clay”. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV) “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”

2 Timothy 2:21 (NKJV) “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

God wants to form us into ‘’a vessel for honour and useful for the Master”

Our life is in the hands of God. Like a skilful potter, God knows how to form us into a vessel for His use.

David Jeremiah says “Our life rests in God’s hands. Like a skilled potter, He knows how to apply precise pressure, when to relax His grip, how to score our life with His fingernail, how to squeeze and nudge – all which increases our fitness as a vessel for His use. At times, the Master Potter places us in the kiln where the fires of life turn us into stronger vessels.

Today, allow the Potter to form you.
