Our words and meditation should be pleasing to God
Psalm 19:14(NKJV) Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
In this passage, David expresses a desire for his thoughts and words to be pleasing to God.
Similarly, Jesus highlights the connection between one’s heart and speech.
Luke 6:45(ESV) The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
In the same way, David emphasises the intrinsic link between the mouth and the heart. Our words and our thinking are related. Both should be pleasing to the Lord.
Psalm 104:34(AMP) May my meditation be sweet and pleasing to Him; As for me, I will rejoice and be glad in the LORD. 17
We should desire for our thoughts or meditations to be pleasing to God. By aligning ourselves with scriptural truth, we can cultivate thoughts that please God, leading to words and actions that resonate with His will.
I conclude with Romans 12:2(ESV) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
