Thessalonians 5:23(KJV) And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
When you are born again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in your holy man. He is there all the time; waiting for you to know Him in the Spirit. Waiting upon God is a command.
Psalm 37:7(NIV) Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Psalm 130:5-6(NIV) I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 25:5(NASB) Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
Waiting on the Lord starts in the natural dimension. Start by praying, play worship music. Make sure you don’t get distracted, so you need to plan your waiting time. You need to plan to get alone time with God. When you are alone with God, you will experience a battle with your body, your flesh. The flesh hates God. The flesh hates to pray, the flesh hates to worship, the flesh hates to praise. All the flesh wants is fun, food, and entertainment. You have to bring your body under control. You need to tell your flesh whether it likes it or not, you are going to pray. You are going to tell you flesh you are going to worship and praise. You are going to serve. You are going to church.
1 Corinthians 9:27(TLB) Like an athlete I punish my body, treating it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to.
Wake up in the morning and pray, read the Bible, praise, worship and hear the voice of God. You have to wait upon the Lord. You have to tell your body what to do. Don’t allow your body to tell you that it is tired, does not want to pray, and doesn’t have time to wait upon the Lord. Tell your body you need to pray, then do it.
Romans 8:13(ESV) For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Galatians 5:16–18(ESV) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
