2 February 2021- I am the Lord that makes all things

Isaiah 45:7 (NKJV) “I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.”

This verse uses the following vocabulary for creation: “I form (yāṣar) the light and create (bārā´) darkness, I bring (`āśā) prosperity and create (bārā´) disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.”

`Āśā is to “do” or “make” … When used in the sense of “make,” the emphasis is on the fashioning of the object.

Bārā´ means “to create, make, initiate something new, bring into existence.”

Yāṣar means “fashion, form, shape, frame” Yāṣar denotes the activity of the potter as he shapes and fashions vessels and figures with his hands.

To Make
John 1:3 (ESV) “All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.”

Psalm 33:6 (ESV) “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.”

To Create

Deuteronomy 32:6b (NIV) “Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?

Psalm 139:13 (NIV) “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

Isaiah 54:5 (NLT) “For your Creator will be your husband; the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.

To Shape

Isaiah 44:24 (KJV) “Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Revelation 4:11 (ESV) “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

I conclude with Revelation 4:11 (NLT) “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honour and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
