2 May 2021 – Waiting on God

All over the world a crisis brings feelings of fear, anxiety, indecision, tension, confusion, hopelessness.

Often, we lose heart during difficult times. Learning to trust God can be challenging.

Living in the middle of what was and the hope of what is yet to come is challenging. We must learn that we can trust God in these circumstances, even when we do not see the end.

Psalm 37:34 (TLB) “Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway and in due season he will honour you with every blessing.”

Hebrews 10:36 says “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”

While we are waiting, God is working out things for our good and putting things in place for us, which is why we must trust Him. God tells us in His word that He has great plans for us which He will bring to pass just at the right time!

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering, (unswervingly) to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Psalm 62:5 “Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him.”

No, it’s not easy to wait. Yes, it may take long. But let’s remember that God does not give empty words. If He has said that something will come to pass, we can be assured that He will bring it to pass, in our lives. Just as He promised.

John Ortberg once said, “Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.”

Waiting teaches us patience, we learn to find purpose, in the process that is preparing us for the promise.

Waiting on God develops our patience. Waiting on God gives us purpose and is full of purpose. The purpose of the wait is to refine our motives. Waiting on God is a process.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Waiting on God prepares you for His promises. Anything of quality, anything good, and anything worth waiting for, comes through a process of preparation. Pray for God to prepare you now for what is coming.

Waiting for God to fulfil His promises.

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
