2 November LUKE 22

The one who serves you best will be your leader

Luke 22:26-27(TLB) But among you, the one who serves you best will be your leader. Out in the world the master sits at the table and is served by his servants. But not here! For I am your servant.

What are the fundamental indicators of a servant leader?

A servant leader seeks the glory of his Master, John 7:18(ESV) The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

A servant leader sacrificially seeks the highest joy of those he serves. Matthew 20:26(ESV) It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant.

Matthew 20:28(ESV) even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

We serve God by serving others, Colossians 3:23–24(NIV) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

It’s the best use of our lives, 1 Corinthians 15:58(GNT) So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord’s service is ever useless.

It makes life meaningful, Mark 8:35(TLB) If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it. Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live.

“Servant leadership is all about making the goals clear and then rolling your sleeves up and doing whatever it takes to help people win. In that situation, they don’t work for you; you work for them.” ― Ken Blanchard

“It has generally been my experience that the very top people of truly great organizations are servant-leaders.” ― Stephen Covey
