God is without limits. Limited as we are by time, space, and circumstances, we find it difficult even to comprehend that there are no limitations for God.
2 Chronicles 2:6 (RSV) But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him?
Psalm 147:5 (RSV) Great is our LORD, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
God is all-powerful, the Master of every situation. Matthew 19:26 (AMP) But Jesus looked at them and said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Revelation 19:6 (AMP) Then I heard something like the shout of a vast multitude, and like the boom of many pounding waves, and like the roar of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, [the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all] reigns.
God is omnipresent; there is no place where man can escape His presence. Psalm 139:9-12 (NLT) If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.
The question arises who can be compared to God? There is no one like Him.
Exodus 15:11 (ESV) “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
There is an old song How big is God by Bill and Gloria Gaither, we used to sing in church when I was a little boy:
How big is God How big and wide His vast domain
To try and tell, these lips can only start
He’s big enough to rule His mighty universe
Yet small enough to live within my heart.”
A. W. Tozer said: “Because God knows all things perfectly, he knows nothing better than any other thing, but all things equally well. He never discovers anything, he is never surprised, never amazed.”
I conclude with Kevin Hartnett’s statement about the greatness of God: “Indeed, through His own gracious revelation of Himself, we can understand God in part, but we can never fully comprehend Him, or even a single one of His qualities. There will always be more of His wisdom to understand, more of His power, more of His holiness, more of His love. We will never fathom Him, and we will never tire of Him. Through all eternity, we will look upon Him and marvel at the endlessly creative, wonderfully gracious, uniquely righteous, timelessly beautiful, unsearchable glorious, infinitely loving Maker and Ruler of all.”
