20 April 2024 – The prayer of agreement

The Bible declares that the prayer of agreement is one of the most powerful tools God has given us. It is a prayer that Jesus Himself guaranteed would bring results every time. Agreeing together in unity is a powerful, unstoppable force.

Matthew 18:19-20(MSG) Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.

How do you pray in agreement? Keep your heart on God’s Word. Now remember you are agreeing on something God has already said! Stand firm on what God said in His Word about your situation. God’s Word is always the answer to your prayer. Always.

I have noticed several things from the Prayer of Agreement. Two people need to be in perfect agreement with one another on the specific prayer request they want to put before the Lord. This means that two people are now approaching the throne of God and they are praying for the exact same thing. Secondly, when we come into agreement, God will go into action. Not only will God go into action, but He will also be present.

There is power in praying together. Deuteronomy 32:30 says of God’s army that ‘one man (could) chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight. There is a multiplied effect in being together before God.

In Acts 1:14(NIV) we read: they all joined together constantly in prayer and in the same translation in Acts 4:24 they raised their voices together in prayer. Together is a key that opens the door to the power of God.

1 John 5:14(ESV) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.

2 Chronicles 7:14(ESV) If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

It is sad when we go through life without acting on the Word. Those who thoroughly understands that God’s power supports us, we can exercise authority and face the enemy fearlessly. Ephesians 6:10(KJV) says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. This verse says nothing about being strong in yourself. It talks about being strong in the Lord.

The Lord’s strength backs the prayer of agreement. Jesus is the one who told us, ‘If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.’ Don’t argue with the Bible, side with it! God’s Word is true.

Whatever you’re facing today, find someone who is filled with faith and believes the Word of God to come into agreement with you. Remember, ‘when two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.’

Have a great day.
