20 November 2023 – Intimidation will keep you out of your promised land

The enemy wants us to overestimate his power and underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit within us. You cannot be intimidated by what you see. You must, instead, believe what God has spoken to you.

When giants appeared in the Old Testament, the effect of their presence was to produce intimidation. The giant Goliath had the whole of the Israelite army quaking in fear

1 Samuel 17:11(ESV) When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.

Numbers 13:28(NIV) But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.

Do not overestimate the power of the enemy; do not underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit. Never forget, you have the Spirit of God – and the enemy is no match for Him.

1 John 4:4(NKJV) You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

There is a message associated with fear and intimidation, it lies about you, seeking to undermine your confidence and diminish your capability.

John 8:44b(NIV) When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Satan wants you to believe that you’re not able to make it. He wants you to believe that you are only a tiny grasshopper against giants. “The giants called us grasshoppers.” They said, “We were in our own sight as grasshoppers.” They went in with a grasshopper mentality. Their thinking was contaminated before they got there. Opposition doesn’t determine who you are; it simply reveals who you are. If you have a grasshopper mentality, all your challenges and problems will seem too big.

Numbers 13: 33b(DBY) And they looked down on us as if we were grasshoppers.

The truth is that you can take the promise land, you can conquer the giants in your life because God is on your side. The only way to overcome intimidation is to believe the word of God.

Numbers 13: 30(NIV) Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-6(MSG) “The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.”

2 Timothy 1:7(AMPC) For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Do not be intimidated by what you see; instead, believe what God has spoken to you!
