  • For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News*

Ephesians 6:15 (NLT) For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.

You put on the preparation or readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace when you say: “Lord, I’m ready to go whenever, wherever You call.”

Peace helps us to stay grounded, and simultaneously stand our ground. We are to fit our feet with the good news of peace. We are to advance onto the battlefield unafraid, because we carry with us the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection

Shoes are worn for two main purposes: Walking and having a firm foundation.

John 14:27 (NLT) “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Isaiah 52:7 (NLT) “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

The context of Isaiah 52 is that of a messenger bringing back the good news that Israel had been released from Babylonian captivity. How much better is the news and how much more beautiful are the feet of those who carry the message that God, through the death of His Son, frees men from the wreckage of their sin.

“What is the gospel of peace that we’re to wear on our feet? The word “peace” means completeness, wholeness, and an inner resting of the soul that does not fluctuate based on outside circumstances. It is a peace that resonates from within despite what’s going on all around.

The Bible says that the peace of God is so opposite to the natural way of responding to life’s trials that we often can’t even understand it.

Philippians 4:7 (NLT) “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Paul says, “For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared.”

Romans 10:14-15 (NLT) “And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
