23 December 1 Corinthians 14

God is a God of order and peace

1 Corinthians 14:33a(NKJV) For God is not the author of confusion but of peace,

When looking at this passage, three words come to mind, confusion, order and peace. So, let us try to understand the meaning of these words.

Confusion refers to a state of disorder, chaos, and lack of clarity. Confusion can arise when things are jumbled, or contradictory, or when there is a lack of understanding or direction. God is not the source of confusion, meaning that He does not promote chaos, disorder, or conflicting messages. He is a God of order, clarity, and direction.

James 3:16(NKJV) For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

Order – God is a God of order, it means that God brings structure and organisation to the world, both in the natural and spiritual realms. It signifies the presence of purpose, design, and a divine plan in the world.

1 Corinthians 14:40(NKJV) Let all things be done decently and in order.

Peace involves inner serenity and outward reconciliation with God and others. It is a state of rest and trust that comes from being in the right relationship with God and experiencing His presence and grace. God, as the author of peace, brings about this state of wholeness and harmony in the lives of those who trust in Him.

Philippians 4:7(NKJV) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace and confusion stand in opposition to each other. Confusion disrupts peace and introduces turmoil, disorder, and strife. Confusion creates unrest, anxiety, and a sense of disarray. In contrast, peace restores order, clarity, and trust. When God is described as a God of peace, it signifies that He brings a sense of calm, clarity, and order into our lives, replacing confusion with harmony and understanding.

The strategy of Satan is always to bring confusion. Confusion influences our ability to focus, make the right decisions and trust God. Peace is knowing that God is in control, He will guide us and give direction. Today allow the peace of God to fill your heart, in times of confusion, difficulty and adversity.

I conclude with Isaiah 26:3(NKJV) You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.
