23 December 2022 – Christmas is part of God’s redemption plan

The birth of Jesus was not random. Everything was planned meticulously from the beginning, from His birth to His resurrection and ascension into heaven. God intended for people to turn to Him in repentance and to experience forgiveness of sins through His son Jesus.

From the beginning of the biblical in Genesis, God planned the redemption of fallen mankind through a promised Saviour.

When Christ gave, he held nothing back. He defined our worth by giving Himself – God in the flesh, in exchange for sinful mankind. He redeemed us by His blood, poured out to pay for every sin.

Ephesians 1:7-10 (AMP) In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and understanding [with practical insight] He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ, with regard to the fulfillment of the times [that is, the end of history, the climax of the ages]—to bring all things together in Christ, [both] things in the heavens and things on the earth.

God sent His Son to be the supreme Sacrifice for sin.

Hebrews 10:5-12 (NKJV) Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.’ ” Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,”

Christmas is the beginning of God’s plan of making a way for us to be redeemed; the beginning of God demonstrating His deep love for us by offering the possibility of forgiveness, restoration, and peace with Him.

Christmas is a story of redemption.
