God rescues the godly

2 Peter 2:9(NLT) So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.

This passage comes after Peter’s account of how the Lord delivered Noah and Lot from what would appear to be impossible circumstances. Both lived in times when people lived totally inconsistent with the plan of God.

God delivered them, with their families, in His way and timing. Noah walked with the Lord, and he obeyed the Lord’s instructions regarding building the ark. Then, in God’s timing, Noah moved his family and the animals into the ark. God shut the door, releasing the waters from the deep that flooded the earth.

Lot and his family were delivered out of the city before He sent fire and brimstone from heaven to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

Like God rescued Noah and Lot, He wants to do the same for you. You might be facing tough times right now, feeling like everything is going wrong. Remember that God looks out for godly people. By believing in Jesus, you are considered righteous in God’s eyes. He’s helping you find a way out, even if it doesn’t seem like it. God already has a plan to help you through this.

Psalms 34:15(NIV) The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;

Psalms 34:17-19(NIV) The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

Psalms 34:22(NIV) The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Psalms 34:4(NIV) I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
