23 February 2023 – The Blessing of giving

Malachi 3:8-12 (NKJV) “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts; “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the LORD of hosts.

When you give, God says:

  • He will open the windows of heaven for you! This refers to a personal revival. The windows of heaven always deal with revival. The Lord promises to revive every person who obeys Him.
  • He will pour out a blessing over you! This refers to prosperity.
  • He will rebuke the devourer! This refers to neutralising the enemy. Rebuke means to cripple or paralyze. God Almighty will cripple the enemy on your behalf when you tithe. The tithe is so important to the Lord that He promises to paralyze and cripple the enemy so that he will not be able to touch your life!
  • He will not allow your work to be destroyed. This refers to a hedge of financial protection.
  • He will bless the fruit of your vine! This refers to family blessing.
  • All nations shall call you blessed! You will be a testimony of His blessing.
  • You will be a delightful land! This refers to a blessing of influence.

God’s hand is always moved to bless His people through giving. Givers are always rewarded according to their giving; hence givers never lack. People who do not know this will continue to suffer in poverty, while those who understand the principles of giving, enjoy God’s blessings.

Acts 20:35b (NLT) ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Many people don’t give often because of the fear that they will run out of resources and supply. But great givers trust in divine provision. It takes faith and courage in God to believe the divine principle that he who scatters shall yet increase, and the generous man shall be prosperous and enriched.

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NLT) Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Faith in God expressed for divine provision pleases Him.

Galatians 6:7b (NLT) You will always harvest what you plant.

Luke 6:38 (NLT) Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
