Romans 8:22 (NASB) “For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT) “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
When God delivered His people from Egyptian slavery, He put Moses in charge. During their journey, there were countless hardships. The people grumbled and constantly cried out to Moses. The path they were on seemed to make no sense at all. When circumstances looked bleak, Moses questioned God. And when he couldn’t figure out how God was working, he came close to throwing the towel in.
Exodus 17:4 (NLT) “Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What should I do with these people? They are ready to stone me!”
Sometimes circumstances can overwhelm us.
Moses stayed focused. He believed God would do what He said He’d do. And he sensed there was more at stake than what he could see with his eyes or envision in his mind.
Hebrews 11:26 (LB) He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward.
Hebrews 11:27 (LB) “By faith he left Egypt behind, not being afraid of the king’s anger, for Moses persevered as one who sees him who is invisible.”
God is in control. He always has a plan for us.
Psalm 77:19 (LB) “Your road led by a pathway through the sea—a pathway no one knew was there!”
2 Corinthians 13:3-4 (LB) “I will give you all the proof you want that Christ speaks through me. Christ is not weak in his dealings with you but is a mighty power within you. His weak, human body died on the cross, but now he lives by the mighty power of God. We, too, are weak in our bodies, as he was, but now we live and are strong, as he is, and have all of God’s power to use in dealing with you.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 (LB) “This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.”
Exodus 9:16 (CSB) “However, I have let you live for this purpose: to show you my power and to make my name known on the whole earth.”
