23 November 2023 – How to overcome the giants in your life

Everyone has giants. There are no exceptions. It’s just a matter of what, where, or who your giant is. The battle belongs to the Lord, so rest in the finished work Christ has done. Attack your giant. Bring it into the light of day, call on God, pray for His power, and attack it. Don’t put it off. Deal with it now. Be sure to finish your giant off.

1 Samuel 17:8b-11(ERV) “Why are all of your soldiers lined up ready for battle? You are Saul’s servants. I am a Philistine. So choose one man and send him to fight me. If that man kills me, he wins and we Philistines will become your slaves. But if I kill your man, then I win, and you will become our slaves. You will have to serve us.” The Philistine also said, “Today I stand and make fun of the army of Israel. I dare you to send me one of your men and let us fight.” Saul and the Israelite soldiers heard what Goliath said, and they were very afraid.

Fear stopped these soldiers from standing up to Goliath. They stood around and took no action; their fear made them silent. We have giants in our lives that taunt us just like Goliath. Our giants are things we feel are too big or too strong for us to face. We don’t want to face them because it is easier to ignore, avoid and stay silent about them. To conquer our giants, we need to first reveal them to ourselves and those close to us.

Numbers 14:9(NLT) “Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”

You can face your giant on your knees.

1 Samuel 17:45(NLT) David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

You need to recognise the power of prayer. Prayer is a weapon, and we must use it.

God responds to prayer. The language that moves God is prayer. The way God responds is through prayer. He’s not moved through sympathy. He’s not moved through our depression. He is moved through our prayers. So whenever you have to face your giant, you must decide to fight, you must choose your weapon, and you must then enjoy the victory.

“God has appointed the giants of your life with the intention of overcoming them for you and teaching you to rely on Him through them. Don’t stop praying, but be faithful to pray continuously.” – Adam Houge,
