Sometimes in life we get to a point where we feel that life is just too much. Some while ago, one morning a lady walked into my office. I asked how she was. Immediately the answer was: ‘I am not doing well.’ I asked what was wrong. ‘I don’t want to live any more,’ was the answer. ‘Why not,’ I asked. ‘Everything and everyone are against me.’
Unpacking the situation, I discovered that the entire situation was created by one person, one person caused all the trouble in this lady’s life. This resulted in a sense of abandonment, rejection, and unhappiness. Life just became too much for this person. There was no joy and happiness.
Taking the time to listen and show her the value that she adds to so many people’s lives, the difference that she makes and the goodness of God in her life, changed this dark situation and within 30 minutes, suddenly her joy and happiness were restored.
That is the tactic of Satan. He wants you to believe the worst. He wants to believe that it is not worth living, that life and everything is against you. That is a lie. He wants you to worry. The Bible teaches us that worry subtracts from our lives. Why carry all these burdens if we can give it to God?
Luke 12:25-26 (TPT) “Does worry add anything to your life? Can it add one more year, or even one day? So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you?
Luke 12:29-32 (TPT) I repeat: Don’t let worry enter your life. Live above the anxious cares about your personal needs. People everywhere seem to worry about making a living, but your heavenly Father knows your every need and will take care of you. As you passionately seek his kingdom, above all else, he will supply your needs. So don’t ever be afraid, dearest friends! Your loving Father joyously gives you his kingdom with all its promises!
What an assurance! God cares about your personal needs and will take care of it. All that we must do is seek Him. To seek God means that we trust Him with all our circumstances.
David is an excellent example of one that know that God is his help in time of trouble.
David pleads in Psalm 144:7a (NIV) Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters.
He cries out in Psalm 31:2 (NIV) Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
I conclude today with Isaiah 59:1 (NIV) Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.
