The Bible says that what God opens, no man can shut.
Revelation 3:7-8 (NIV) “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. . .”
The devil can’t shut the windows of blessings on us. Many people are trying to receive God’s financial and material blessings with the windows of heaven closed.
God tells us that He will open the windows of heaven if we meet certain conditions. We must walk in obedience to His Word by bringing the tithe into the storehouse. That’s our responsibility. Then we must continue to walk in line with His Word to keep those windows open.
Malachi 3:10 (NLT) “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”
Deuteronomy 28:12 (NKJV) The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
This is your time to rise and say: ‘There may be a closed door before me, but there’s an open heaven above me!’
Open heavens also refer to revival. When we speak of revival, we consider the seasons of spiritual refreshing that come upon the church. The windows of heaven seem to open. Showers of blessing are poured out. Believers are moved through a deep, Holy Spirit conviction of sin to make a private (and sometimes public) confession. It results in a renewal of their dedication to God. And often, it is accompanied by the salvation of many souls.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:12-14 (NLT) Then one night the LORD appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
2 Chronicles 7:19-20 (NLT) “But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods, then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.”
Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death.
Revival renews the spiritual life and deepens our personal relationship with God. A revival is an intimate, personal experience with God.
