The Fiery arrows of the devil

Ephesians 6:16 (NLT) “In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. “

The word arrows mean a missile; that is, a spear or an arrow. And the Fenton translation calls it “artillery,” the artillery of Satan.

Paul used the term “fiery” arrows. Why did he do that? The Greek word for “fiery” means to literally be on fire.

A fiery arrow is anything that penetrates our heart and causes doubt, unbelief, fear, worry, and anxiety. What are fiery darts specifically? They are words spoken, thought, taught, or read, that are contrary to God’s will and nature.

The impact of a fiery arrow on our life – James 1:6-8 (NKJV) “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Doubt and unbelief are the enemy’s biggest arrows against us. They are negative and discouraging. They cause us to make poor choices, which makes life difficult.

We need to stop wishing for things and make up our minds that God will help us have wisdom, make good choices, and overcome our trials and tribulations if we will put our faith in Him.

1 Peter 5:8(KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, [walks] about, seeking whom he may devour:

Corinthians 10:3-4(KJV) “ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.”

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

“God works in our lives through faith. He wants us to trust Him, believe in Him, and have a hopeful, positive attitude. He wants us to except Him to do good things in our lives” – Joyce Meyers

Ephesians 6:16 (ESV) “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one”

In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

2 Samuel 22:31 NKJV As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him
