25 October 2023 – Let the word of God dwell in you

Colossians 3:16(TLB) Remember what Christ taught, and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts.

Decide that the Word of God will be your daily manna. First, take the Word as your daily food to nourish you each morning.

Jeremiah 15:16(NIV) When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.

Act and read the Word. Spend regular, daily times to read through the Bible. It is good to read through the books of the New and Old Testament consecutively, according to a schedule.

Acts 17:11(TLB) But the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and gladly listened to the message. They searched the scriptures day by day to check up on Paul and Silas’ statements to see if they were really so.

Sing the Word as the psalmists and early believers did. Colossians 3:16(NKJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Speak the Word – find some like-minded companions with whom you can speak the Word, mutually teaching and admonishing one another. Romans 10:8-10(NIV) But what does it say? The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Believe the Word – 2 Corinthians 4:13-15(MSG) We’re not keeping this quiet, not on your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, “I believed it, so I said it,” we say what we believe. And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive. Every detail works to your advantage and to God’s glory: more and more grace, more and more people, more and more praise!

When we believe God’s Word for what it is, truth, and speak that truth over our own lives, and over our families and friends, God’s power is released, made manifest in our lives.

We can choose to believe God’s Word no matter what our circumstances look like because God’s Word has the power to shift things in our lives and to change how we respond to situations by renewing our minds. All things are possible for one who believes.
