27 September 2023 – The impact of Praise

  • Praise gets our focus off ourselves and back on God – Psalm 150:2(ESV) Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
  • Praise brings us to a place of humility. We remember our dependency on God, as we acknowledge our need for Him. As we praise Him as Creator and King of this world, we admit and recognize that we’re not in control, but He is. He is above all. Psalm 95:2-3(ESV) Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
  • Praise makes the enemy flee – 2 Chronicles 20:22(NIV) As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.
Psalm 18:3(BSB) I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
  • Praise leaves no room for complaining and negativity – Psalm 103:2-4(ESV) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.
  • Praise makes room for God’s blessings over our lives. He will not hold back His goodness; praise opens the gateway of blessing as we come into the presence of our King – Psalm 100:4(BSB) Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!
  • Praise invites His presence. God dwells close to us when we praise Him. He lives there. He looks for it. Psalm 22:3(KJV) He inhabits the praises of His people.
  • Our spirits are refreshed and renewed in His presence. Psalm 16:11(ESV) In Your presence, there is fullness of joy.
  • Praise paves the way for God’s power to be displayed, miracles to happen.
Acts 16:25-26(ESV) About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.

PRAISE GIVES US ACCESS TO GOD – Psalm 100:4a(BSB) says: Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.

Finally PRAISE CHANGES US – Proverbs 27:21(KJV) says: As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.

Praise is one of the languages of faith. Praise destroys walls. It tears down the walls of frustration, the walls of failure, the walls of self-shame, the walls of loss and the walls of sadness among other walls. See praise as a destroyer of negativity. It takes things down and it builds things up. It takes down the enemy and it builds up your confidence in the Lord. It magnifies your vision of Jesus. It makes things new and possible. It cries out victory and it sings of the love and blessings of the Lord. Praise is a game-changer. If you are looking for the keys to Heaven, keep praising and the gates will open! Praise is a weapon! When you praise, you remind yourself, the enemy and the circumstances that God will have the final say and there is NOTHING that can stand in the way of His deliverance!
