Zechariah 4:6 “What you intend, you will not succeed by the power of an army and not by human power: No, my spirit will effect it! I promise, the LORD Almighty God.”
According to Jesus, why did He come to this earth? He said in John 10:10b (NKJV) I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Jesus wants us to experience this full life here on earth. A whole life is a life filled with the Holy Spirit.
John 7:37b-39a (NKJV) “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit . . .
Rivers of living water symbolises a full life. How do we receive this life? First, there must be a want, a desire, and a thirst. Anyone who thirsts, can come to Jesus, drink, and believe. Thus, there must be a desire to be filled with the Spirit. Come to Me and drink. What an invitation; the only requirement is a thirst for God. Drink in the prayer, drink in the Word, praise and worship, drink in His presence. To drink in literally means to stop and enjoy it fully. The final qualification is prayer, read the word and be in His presence in faith.
Romans 12:1 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 8:8-9 (NKJV) So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
1 John 3:24 (NKJV) Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
Henry T. Blackaby once said: – “God could do more in six months with a people that are devoted to Him, than we could do in sixty years without Him.
A. W. Tozer said: – “If the Holy Ghost were taken away from our church today, 95% of what we do would continue and no one would notice the difference. If the Holy Ghost had withdrawn from the early church, then 95% (this means almost everything) of what they were doing would have stopped and everyone would have noticed the difference.”
To be filled with the Holy Ghost has the prerequisite of completely surrendering your life to Jesus Christ.
