Behind everything you do is a belief. There is a belief behind every behaviour.
Haggai 1:5 (NJB) “Think carefully about your behaviour.”
Proverbs 14:15 (ICB) “A foolish person will believe anything. But a wise person thinks about what he does.”
The question is what do you believe? What you believe is what you are going to receive. Your belief triggers your response.
What you think directly influences how you feel and how you behave. So, if you think you’re a failure, you’ll feel like a failure. Then, you’ll act like a failure, which reinforces your belief that you must be a failure.
You can change how you think. You can alter your perception and change your life.
Your belief system is the invisible force behind your behaviour. Together with other factors such as your personality, your genetic set up and your habits, your belief system is one of the strongest forces that affects any decision that you are making. The communication styles you are using. The ways in which you react to anything that happens in your life.
For most people, their beliefs are this invisible force that is influencing their behaviour without them noticing. Become aware of how your beliefs affect your behaviour, and consciously shape how your belief system develops. Your behaviour and your habits will follow. The only way you can change your behaviour is to change the way you think.
By accurately discerning our own beliefs, we create an opportunity to change our beliefs. Our belief system can be a tremendous force in forming our future.
Psalms 27:13(KJV) “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
We must confront our beliefs
Do I believe that God is a good God and that He wants to give me good things? – Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.“
Do I believe the Word of God enough to make all my decisions based on its guidance? – 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
Do I believe that the things I hope for and pray for in God can become a reality in my life?
Mark 9:23 (NLT) “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
Matthew 21:22 (NIV) “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
