Psalm 116:12(AMP) What will I give to the LORD [in return] For all His benefits toward me? [How can I repay Him for His precious blessings?]
Exodus 33:18-19(NLT) Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you,
Genesis 50:20-21(MSG) Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid. Do I act for God? Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. Easy now, you have nothing to fear; I’ll take care of you and your children.” He reassured them, speaking with them heart-to-heart.
The reason why God is good is because He continues to show us love, grace, mercy, generosity, and favour even when we don’t deserve it. This perfect God keeps demonstrating love to sinful people, which ties in with what it means that God is good.
God’s goodness does not mean good things will always happen to you. God’s goodness pushes through all these things and shows up. The truth is that some things will happen in life that are simply a result of sin and not a measure of God’s goodness. What makes God good is that when these moments happen, He doesn’t abandon you, but He is there to carry you through.
Romans 8:28(ESV) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
James 1:17(ESV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
As we continue seeking Him, He continues revealing more of His goodness to us.
Lamentations 3:25(ESV) The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Psalm 34:8(ESV) Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
“There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.” – CS Lewis
God has the best intentions for your life and is good in everything that He does. We need to constantly remind ourselves of the goodness of God and build our faith, knowing that He is for us and with us in every situation.
John MacArthur wrote: “God’s goodness is that He is the perfect sum, source, and standard (for Himself and His creatures) of that which is wholesome (conducive to well-being), virtuous, beneficial, and beautiful.”
I conclude with 2 Corinthians 9:8(AMP) And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.
