29 January 2022 – The God who calls you

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (AMP) “Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own]”

In a world where trouble and chaos seem to be the order of the day, a world where one change after another of uncertainties are taking place, our God declares to us that He is faithful.

Faithful is God’s Character. That is who He is.
Ephesians 4:1 (AMP) “So I, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called [that is, to live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behaviour—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation],”

We are all called by God. We could run, but I couldn’t hide from that call.

Isaiah 48:15 (NCV) “I have spoken; I have called him. I have brought him, and I will make him successful.”

When God decides to use you, five things happen: First, there is a call. God called Joshua. Joshua 1:2(NIV) “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people,

Second, there is fear. Do not fear. Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous.

Third, there is reassurance. Joshua 1:5 (NCV) “No one will be able to defeat you all your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forget you.”

Fourth, there is a decision, to accept the calling of God. Joshua1:16 (NLT) They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us. 17 We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses.

Fifth, there is a changed life. Once we accept the call of God, it opens the door for God to prepare us for what he has called us for. Joshua 3:7 (NLT) The Lord told Joshua, “Today I will begin to make you a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites. They will know that I am with you, just as I was with Moses.

So often we need the reminder that I don’t have to FEEL qualified to do what God is calling me to do. If He calls me, HE will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NLT) “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.”

“God does not choose people because of their ability, but because of their availability.” -Brother Andrew

“One good deed is more worth than a thousand brilliant theories. Let us not wait for large opportunities, or for a different kind of work, but do just the things we “find to do” day by day.” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon
