Psalm 5:2-3(AMPC) Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray. In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].
God wants to speak to you. The problem is that we don’t allow God to talk to us. God wants to connect with you. Sometimes we talk so much that we don’t allow God to talk to us. Pray a simple prayer of “HELP ME.” Listen He is saying “I’ve got you”
James 1:5-7(AMP) If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the Lord, . . .”
The Bible speaks of different ways in which God speaks:
- God speaks through Scripture – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- God speaks through gifted teachers – Romans 12:6-8 (NIV) We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
- God speaks to us through difficulties – Psalm 119:67-68 (NIV) Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.
- God speaks through the Holy Spirit – John 14:26 (NIV) But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
- God speak through His creation – Psalm 19:1-2(NIV) The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
- God speaks through whatever or whomever He chooses – Job 33:14(NIV) For God does speak – now one way, now another – though no one perceives it.
“When God speaks, He does not give new revelation about Himself that contradicts what He has already revealed in Scripture. Rather, God speaks to give application of His Word to the specific circumstances in your life. When God speaks to you, He is not writing a new book of Scripture; rather, He is applying to your life what He has already said in His Word.” – Henry T Blackaby
