Fear your unbelief
Hebrews 3:18-19(NLT) And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.
So why was Israel not able to enter God’s rest? They were unable to enter into the Promised land, the rest God had in mind for them because of unbelief.
Now Paul continues with the thought in Hebrews 4:1(NLT) God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.
Paul highlights this promise of entering His rest is still available to us today. ‘We ought to tremble with fair that we might fail to experience it.’ But fear what? ‘Fear that any one of you should seem to have come short of God’s rest — the restful haven of salvation. ‘This is highlighted in the scriptures below:
Hebrews 3:6(NLT) But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.
Hebrews 3:14(NLT) For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
Hebrews 4:2(NLT) For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God.
I conclude with Hebrews 3:19(ESV) So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. Therefore, fear that unbelief because that’s what will keep you from entering God’s rest – God’s haven of salvation and God’s heaven. Fear unbelief. Fear not trusting God.
